We’re super excited to have created the first ever sock using Agraloop Hemp BioFibre. Agraloop transforms unused (and often burned) food crop waste into super tough and soft fibers for apparel production. Here’s what you need to know.
Why does Arvin use Agraloop Hemp BioFibre?
Like our recovered cotton, Hemp BioFibre is made from leftover manufacturing scraps. But with BioFibre, those scraps come from hemp crops—and not apparel manufacturing facilities.
The folks over at Agraloop break down those scraps into a tough, soft, and antimicrobial (re: doesn’t get stinky) fiber. We combine that fiber with our own recycled or organic cotton fibers to create tough, heavier duty socks.
The benefits of Hemp BioFibre are huge. For one, the development of a tough fiber from food scraps virtually eliminates the use of fresh water and CO2 emissions needed to create a pair of socks. It also requires zero chemicals to produce, which keeps surrounding water sources free of pollutants.

The Hard Facts
Waste is a huge problem. Crop residues are abundant, far too much to compost effectively. This waste is left to rot or burned, creating methane pollution, crop disease, and air pollution that contributes to more than 250,000 deaths per year.
The Hemp BioFibre Process
First, Agraloop recovers food scraps from oilseed hemp and hempseed oil crops. Then, they reduce those scraps to BioFibre yarn for use in textiles and, of course, Arvin Goods. We then combine BioFibre yarn with our own blend of recovered and responsibly sourced cotton and pRET fibers to create fresh, comfy socks.
