Friend of the People: An Interview with Eddie Berrang

Whalebone is more than just a magazine. Somewhere between playing a round of golf with Bill Murray and Kelly Slater, and hosting a worldwide photo contest, they've also managed to find the time to make their own hot sauce, launch a print shop, and throw some of the best parties Montauk has ever seen.
We caught up with founder and self-described janitor Eddie Berrang to talk about their latest collaboration with Arvin.

Friend of the People: An Interview John Moore of Outerknown

Arvin Goods and Outerknown were bound to cross paths eventually.

Both brands set out to create sustainable essentials that were suited for everyday life, and ended up setting their sights a little higher — by trying to change the way we think about waste in the apparel industry.

When we were first getting Arvin off the ground, we looked to John Moore, the legendary Creative Director of Outerknown, as a huge source of inspiration.

Obabika was born out of a frustration with the system ‘grassroots activism’. How can the most important work force on our planet (for our planet) be so handicapped? They offer pro bono creative and digital marketing services to these organizations to help them meet their full potential, and they can focus on bettering our planet.

Unfuck The World - Can't Blame The Youth

Earlier this year we became aware of a project here in Seattle that had a similar mindset, with a direct message. A new brand, Can’t Blame The Youth (C.B.T.Y.), was launching and their mission is also simple: Unfuck The World.

Why isn't everybody doing this?

Why isn't everybody doing this?

It's a question we get asked surprisingly often. Which makes sense. It seems like a no-brainer right? Do we want to save 150 liters of water on a pair of socks, or don't we? Why wouldn't every clothing company want to do that? And why would this tiny brand I found on Instagram be doing this and my regular brand isn't?
